Sarah's work is both realistic and painterly. Her still life works focus on everyday and nostalgic objects, pared back and quietly composed, with an emphasis on tone, form and subtle colour relationships. Through a measured handling of paint, she gives familiar subjects a sense of presence and attentiveness, allowing small shifts in light and surface to carry the work. Alongside this, her portrait practice is grounded in careful observation, aiming to capture both likeness and character without excess or sentimentality.
Sarah graduated from Chelsea College of Art in 1996 and later at LCP in art & design. 20 years later she returned to her first love - painting, specifically portraiture and still life. Her work is both painterly and realistic, her still life work centring on nostalgic and household objects to create a sense of calm and mindful focus. Her portraits bring character and detailed attention. Her recent portrait of her mother was preselected by the Royal Society of Portraiture and will be shown in the ING Discerning EYE exhibition 2026 in the Mall Galleries. She has also taken part in Sky Portrait Artist of the Year (2026), and regularly shows at art fairs. Her work hangs in homes all over the UK, and North America. She also has a portrait hanging in the Houses of Parliament.
