The figure is a vehicle for Andrew's explorations of structure, surface and texture. He is interested in finding a link between the human form and natural, architectural and mechanical structures. Sometimes the figure is represented by a garment, armour or an exoskeleton.
Andrew would like to achieve some of the simple monumentality of standing stones, tree trunks, aeroplanes etc, conveying a sense of solidity and volume while retaining a feeling of fragility.
