New Purpose Built Studios

To join Londons most exciting creative community we have built an innovative purpose built studio block which was officially opened by the Mayor of Wandsworth during the Winter Open Studio Show 2007.

The building cleverly combines its industrial environment with the artistic flair of the studio's occupants which brings a positive feeling to the whole estate. It's the first privately funded purpose built UK studios and the largest of its kind in the world, where 185 painters, sculptures, ceramicists etc work.

Wimbledon Art Studios TALKS & SEMINARS

• Throughout 2007 and 2008 Wimbledon Art Studios will be organising a series of seminars, talks and workshops for our artists.

• This is to encourage all our artists to further their careers, participate in the community and to further develop their careers.

• This is a changing programme of 10 to 12 events a year. Covering a wide range of subjects. We are always interested in any suggestions for new topics.

WORKSHOPS

The Wimbledon Art Studio Workshops are run so that we involve the art community that surrounds us. It will allow outside artists to work alongside the artists or ceramicists that have their working studios here.

We will have a rolling timetable for the year. Depending on the success of a workshop we may repeat it sooner than timetabled.

We can have up to 15 participants in the Studios for the day.

The format will be along these lines, as this is a more recent

• There will be up to three or four sessions in three different studios, so as to maximise the breadth of skills.
• For instance, there can be a drawing session , then abstract landscape session and finally a printmaking session all within our studios with several different artists.
• This will be exactly the same format for the Ceramic Workshop.
• The workshops will be held 4 times a year, depending upon demand and with the possibility of combining a Workshop with Wandsworth Artists Open Studios Weekends in October.
•
The Dates for 2007 will be :-

• September / October
• December /January
• February/ March
• June /July

The artists would cover their costs and the charge for the Workshops would be reasonable, allowing all sectors of the community to be able to afford them .The proviso being that there has to be a good standard of ability by those applying within these disciplines. Wimbledon Art Studios
