The Summer Open Studios Art Show of 2013 will be remembered fondly in years to come by artists and visitors alike as the ‘perfect weather’ show. The opening day was marked by clear blue skies, a golden orb in the sky (rumoured to be our Sun) and a stillness that almost had a Zen-like quality to it. Amazingly this was no ‘calm before the storm’ and the weather held true for the 4 days enticing people out of their homes to our show resulting in just over 4000 visitors.
The show got off to a fantastic start with an inspiring official opening by internationally acclaimed, portrait artist Christian Furr. The 140 participating artists are still feeling a collective warm glow from his speech about his enjoyable experience as a visitor to our previous Open Studios, although this may have also come from the free flowing bar and excellent canapés provided by Vallebona, Sardinian Gourmet.
Sunday, was Family Fun Day and as a long term participant of Wandsworth Art Festival, we thoroughly enjoyed the tales of interactive storytelling company TITCH. An art treasure hunt for the kids kept children (and some adults!) entertained through out, while refreshing tea and delicious cakes from the Studios Café kept everyone happily fed and watered.
