I am an Estonian-born artist, living and working in London. I graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts, where I specialised in painting. I have exhibited widely in Estonia.
I love simple forms and ideas, and use everyday life and ordinary experiences as my inspiration. My paintings are constructed in many layers of oil with a hint of charcoal and pencil.
Working from sketches and photography, I try to create a believable impression of the subject that portrays emotion, presence and vitality. The characters are not static, and movement is either actual or imminent. Composition in my work is well thought and considered, using partially finished features to create an impression of movement and energy, almost life of its own.
