Studio: 234

I’m originally from the Highlands and was a landscape painter for years before moving to London. After my first son was born, his toys began to find their way into my studio and gradually crept into my paintings. Somehow I started to look at abandoned buildings in a different way as a result – as if these decrepit structures were oversized dolls’ houses, a kind of treasure trove perfect for hiding precious, special things. The idea that the abandoned could be the perfect home for some of our most prized cultural possessions then took on a life of its own.
